„Keep up with the times and time won’t pass you by“ - the motto of the HOLM (House of Logistics and Mobility) evening that took place in Frankfurt am Main on June, 13. The main topic was „Additive manufacturing processes“. Christoph Besenfelder, the corporate logistic research coordinator at Fraunhofer IML, Dr. Jürgen Willmann, the CEO of GT+W GmbH, and Detlef Protzmann, Head of Product Design at Schenker Deutschland AG took part in the discussions.
In his talk Dr. Willmann presented the development of GT+W GmbH in the field of printing of conductive surfaces. In contrast to the production of low quantities, mass production is planned in this field. One example is smart tags printed on paper or on other materials. Another example, the possibility to print solar modules on the one side of a window pane and simultaneously luminous OLEDs on the other. Moreover, when considering the development of prototypes (single items or small series) this technology results above all in significant cost minimization. All these show the fascinating potential of the new technology. GT+W GmbH already produces machines for R&D in the sphere of functional printing. The next step is to develop a production system.
